Illustration and Reconstruction Services
Bringing Ancient Art Back to Life
Every illustration begins with careful research and a deep respect for the original artwork. Whether reconstructing a damaged wall painting, recreating the lost colours of an ancient relief, or producing a new illustration inspired by Egyptian artistic conventions, my work combines archaeological accuracy with contemporary digital techniques to reveal the past in vivid detail.
Working with museums, publishers, researchers and heritage organisations, I create illustrations that communicate complex archaeological evidence clearly while remaining faithful to the original material.
Reconstruction & Restoration
Many surviving works of ancient Egyptian art are incomplete, faded or heavily damaged. Using archaeological evidence, comparative research and an understanding of ancient Egyptian artistic techniques, I carefully reconstruct these works to help audiences visualise how they once appeared.
My reconstruction work includes:
• Restoring missing or damaged decoration
• Reapplying original colours to surviving reliefs
• Repairing damage caused by erosion, vandalism and later alterations
• Reconstructing complete scenes from surviving fragments
• Producing publication-quality illustrations for research, exhibitions and interpretation
Additional Illustration Services
Alongside reconstruction work, I also produce bespoke illustrations for museums, publishers, educators and heritage organisations, including:
• Accurate reproductions of artefacts, wall paintings, papyri and inscriptions
• Archaeological reconstructions based on current research
• Illustrations for books, exhibitions and educational resources
• Heritage interpretation panels and museum displays
• Merchandise and gift shop artwork
• Original illustrations created in the authentic style of ancient Egyptian art
Every commission is individually researched and created to the highest standards of historical accuracy while remaining engaging and accessible for modern audiences.
If you're planning an exhibition, publication or interpretation project, I'd be delighted to discuss how I can help bring ancient Egypt to life.
Private Commissions & Personalised Art
I also take on private commissions, creating unique pieces that blend personal stories with the timeless beauty of ancient Egyptian art. Past commissions have included:
- A wedding portrait for an Egyptologist, featuring the couple in a feasting scene with a personalised hieroglyphic inscription
- A funerary stela design in memory of a loved one who had a deep appreciation for ancient Egypt
- A tattoo design based on a temple wall relief, incorporating protective symbols and name elements
Many of my existing artworks can also be personalised, such as adding a name in a cartouche to make the piece truly about you or your loved one.
These commissions are deeply collaborative and often very meaningful. I’m always honoured to help bring people’s connections to ancient Egypt to life through art.
